Heterodox Academy (HxA) fosters a culture of open inquiry on college campuses, where the pursuit of truth requires three essential conditions: the free exchange of ideas, viewpoint diversity, and constructive disagreement. We seek a Communications Content Manager to join our team and help tell HxA’s stories, create timely and practical resources for our public and academic audiences, and work across our communications channels to grow our impact and advance our change agenda.

The role is well suited for a dynamic and versatile communications professional who is both a skilled writer and a reliable and detail-oriented digital communicator. The Communications Content Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping HxA’s digital presence and resource library, while engaging with our diverse audiences across various communications platforms including our website and email channels. The role requires both strategic and creative abilities to promote and communicate about HxA content (new and archival), events, communities, offerings, and news with the goals of growing our audiences, driving website traffic, and building brand awareness. The ideal candidate is passionate about promoting HxA values, possesses exceptional communication (written and creative) skills, and thrives at a small, nimble organization.

This role will report to HxA’s Director of Communications, Marketing and Events (CME), with essential collaboration with HxA’s Managing Editor, Director of Member and Campus Engagement, Social Media Manager, and Graphic Designer. This role can be fully remote with regular travel on a monthly to quarterly basis to other parts of the United States and Canada.

This position is wide-ranging, flexible, and collaborative. HxA understands that not every candidate will be equally skilled or experienced in every area. • Draft regular organizational newsletter emails including our Weekly Bulletin, Member Monthly, and Weekly Events emails.
    • Draft general marketing and communications emails to members.
    • Collaborate with the CME Director to manage the email marketing calendar.

Communications experience desired:

  • Flawless written and visual communication skills, with the ability to communicate to varied audiences in varied formats from social media posts to long-form professional writing for educated audiences;
  • Advanced professional fluency in English;
  • Keen attention to detail with the ability to routinely write, edit, and publish content with both care and speed, for highly attentive and educated audiences;
